Picture it… you are in a comfortable flight
with friends in your beautiful Bonanza and all of a sudden
your aircraft begins to yaw excessively. This oscillating
movement around a vertical axis is because the tail resolves

direction and has proven to be a predictable
attribute of the Beechcraft Bonanza . The fishtailing swing from
side to side is enough to make anyone airsick.
Q: How do I fix the problem?
We have developed an Adjustable Directional Trim
Device, a yaw damper for the Beechcraft Bonanza that attaches to
the lower aft fuselage in what the STC certification calls the "ventral
location."
To solve the excessive yaw, we developed a means
of blunting the strength of the initial lateral thrust. At the same
time the yaw damper serves to damp the continuing oscillations around
the vertical axis as the aircraft seeks to align itself with its
course. In addition the damper is also capable of providing a rudder
trim, as an added feature. The adjustable aluminum vanes damp the
annoying yaw of the Bonanza to make it comfortable in rough air.
Installation requires only the placement of ten
rivnuts in the fuselage. Alignment is simple using features of the
aircraft that are already in place. The vanes are attached to the
tubular threaded-hole rivnuts with screws and adjusted as desired.
For a small investment in a BDS yaw damper you will make a huge
difference in overall ride, comfort and safety.
