When talking aircraft engines, someone usually brings up replacing cylinders, and how they can’t get all of the horsepower out of their engines.

These are both the symptoms of a mistreated engine.

The engine in your plane is no different from the engine in your car. The engine needs to be adequately cooled in order to run properly.

You wouldn't run your new car without any coolant in the radiator, would you? Of course not, you would burn up the engine. When an airplane engine is not properly cooled the same effect takes place.

Those little “waves” that are often found along the length of the seal strips on improperly maintained baffles are similar to fluid leaking from your automotive radiator.

This is why you need a new high efficiency baffle kit from D’Shannon Products.

In an American Bonanza Society article from March 1997, Lynn Jenkins stated, “Heat Is the biggest cylinder killer.”

The problem was recognized by Bryan Lewis, President of Teledyne Continental Motors in an article from the May 1997 issue of ABS magazine.

Mr. Lewis stated, “The baffles and seals of your engine compartment are responsible for removing a heat load that is equivalent to the horsepower supplied to your propeller". "Any disruption of designed cooling airflow can be a problem for cylinder life and should be corrected".

Q: What makes your Baffle kit superior? 

First, our baffle kit is complete. It’s not a handful of replacement parts to complement the old baffle kit. It replaces the entire Beech baffle installation, both the metal and rubber seals.

Secondly, we have conducted flight-testing in actual 100-degree weather to minimize FAR correction factors. Using the worst possible conditions required by FAR standards; we have obtained unquestionably the most accurate possible cooling test results.

There are D’ Shannon Products baffle kits flying on hundreds of Bonanzas. All of these aircraft have shown remarkable improvements in the temperature of the engines. Temperature reductions of over 100-degrees have been noted on some airplane.

The baffle kit is custom fit, so that every bit of air entering the engine compartment is used to it’s fullest potential in cooling your engine. Take a peak at your current baffles. How many holes do you see where air is escaping without cooling your engine?

Another test is to check the C.H.T.’s for all six cylinders. Don’t be fooled by a single cylinder head temperature reading. You may be redlining one or several of your other cylinders, and wouldn't realize it.

Our baffle kit distributes the airflow in the most efficient way possible. This means that you don’t have four cylinders running cool, while two cylinders are not.
